While Sunday is a fabulous day to go brunching, when one wants brunch on a Saturday morning, things get a little more difficult. Why, why are Saturdays not as brunch-worthy as Sundays??? Well, we went on a brunch hunt last Saturday when I had an insatiable craving for hashbrowns. After calling multiple restaurant establishments, I finally found a website, Saturday Brunch Restaurants, proving that more people than just me have faced this quandary. We ended up grabbing brunch at The Herkimer (on Lake St. and Lyndale in Uptown). They have an excellent breakfast drink special (a great concept in itself) where you get to keep the pint and snit glass when you order a Bloody Mary or Screwdriver. I had the Crab Stacks (two eggs on top of crab cakes with Cajun hollandaise and hashbrowns). It was delicious and the hollandaise was one of the best I've had in a while. And it was nice that it was like a Benedict, but without the English muffin, making it a bit lighter. My boyfriend had the Herkimer Omelet (tater tots, peppers, onion, and cheese, topped with chili and sour cream). He was a fan as well. All of this was very well-priced. A great Saturday brunch option for those who refuse to let Sunday have all the fun!
